Bay Eight Recording Studios
If you’re here, you probably already know a little bit about Bay Eight Recording Studios already. But allow us to reintroduce ourselves. We are an award-winning recording studio located in the heart of Miami. Our history in the industry spans over twenty-years, way back to when we were known as Midnight Blue Studios. Following multiple ownership changes, our founder Matthew “Formatt” DeFreitas, acquired and upgraded the studio. He renamed it Bay Eight Studios and opened it to the public for the first time in 2015. The legacy Latin Music legend Fabio “Estefano” Salgado started is still felt at Bay Eight Studios today. You’ll find RIAA-certified platinum plaques from artists like J Balvin sharing the walls with plaques with platinum selling albums Estefano produced in the 90s.
Our clients continue to include some of the biggest names in the music industry. Everyone from Nas and Usher to Ricky Martin has recorded at our studio. Bay Eight Sound Academy
The newly launched Bay Eight Sound Academy is geared towards aspiring audio engineers. This four week course is conducted in-person and in-studio, not in a classroom. So, it’s a great way get first hand experience in the environment you aim to work in. You’ll get to learn the ins and outs of running your own studio sessions as well as music industry foundations that will help you navigate your burgeoning career. In addition to building up your skills, you’ll also have a unique opportunity to network with our Bay Eight Studios team. You never know, these connections could come in handy when you’re ready to find work. We offer financing options for those who need it. My Mix and Master
Mixing and mastering is an often overlooked portion of getting your music radio-ready. The industry has welcomed bedroom pop, Soundcloud rap, and lo-fi artists in the past few years. However, artists who don’t level up once they capture the public’s attention are quickly forgotten. In order to get music placements, whether on the radio or on a TV show, there is still a high standard of audio quality needed. This isn’t to say that you can’t record at home, only that you’ll likely still need professional mixing and mastering services. Our one-stop licensing company, BE Music Publishing, is geared at connecting indie artists with major brands and entertainment companies searching for music placements. As Matthew explains on the BE website, the creation of BE Music was a natural progression. Basically, a lot of undiscovered talent comes through Bay Eight Studios, and industry connections often asked for recommendations while passing through the studio. So, BE Music is simply the link between these ships passing in the night. Music publishing is an often overlooked potential source of income for indie artists, and we break down why it’s worth your time in this article.
BE has placed music in shows like Love & Hip Hop Miami and Darcey & Stacey, and in ads for major brands like Nike and Google Pixel.
