Music studios are not one-size-fits-all. Are you a solo artist? One half of a duo? Or are you part of a BTS sized-band? Vocal and band recording have different needs. Finding the perfect recording studio requires considering your individual needs. Whatever your situation, we’re here to talk you through how to find the best rooms based on your situation.

What’s the Difference?
If you’re a solo artist, there’s no need to pay for a large live room, especially if you’re singing over a track. Meanwhile, a band typically means live instruments. Not only does a band require a bigger room, recording multiple instruments at once is basically advanced-level recording. This makes having an experienced engineer and producer even more important. Let’s explore some of the other considerations you should to take into account when booking a studio.

Band Recording Miami
Recording as a band gives your tracks more energy than recording each instrument individually. For this reason, it’s not a good idea to cut costs by booking a smaller studio than you truly need. You’ll end up spending whatever money you save on additional studio time and a longer mixing process to get the vibe right.
Fortunately, Miami has many excellent studios equipped for band recording.
More Equipment
You’ll need more microphones to capture the sound of vocals and multiple instruments. Baffles are great for creating a barrier between loud and soft instruments.
Bleed
This part’s quite simple: the more instruments being recorded, the more bleed. The paradox of band recording is that ideally, you need a good amount of distance between instruments and some sound isolation. You especially need distance between your loudest and quietest instruments. This requires special consideration of mic placement, which means an experienced engineer that has recorded bands before.
Cohesion
Is the vibe or style of each player different? There are many ways to play the same song. In this scenario a producer will serve as something of a group leader, making sure you’re all playing in time and that you all sound good together.
.
Timing
Multiple people playing together means it’s a lot more obvious if someone is playing off-beat. It’s also more time consuming to fix timing mistakes later on when you’re dealing with multiple players and a singer. The secret here is practice, but an experienced engineer certainly doesn’t hurt.

For live band recordings in Miami, we reccommend Alacran Studios’ Blue Room. Their studios have vintage outboard gear and natural lighting in addition to a curated selection of instruments. However large your band, you’re unlikely to feel restricted in this spacious studio.
